A simpler bench, adapted from Fig. 8, is thereforeused, which has a back-bench vice at both ends, as indi-cated in Fig. 9, with a shorter bench-well than is shown inFig. 5. When this bench is firmly fixed to the floor, twopupils can work at it without disturbing one another. Fig. 10 is a bench of English manufacture, well adapted forslojd work, and is known as R.
